Manchester United F.C. are accelerating plans to strengthen their squad this summer, with rebuilding the midfield remaining the club’s top priority. After missing out on Mateus Fernandes, who completed an £85 million move to Tottenham Hotspur F.C., United have shifted their focus to several high-profile alternatives.
At the top of the Red Devils’ wishlist are Aurélien Tchouaméni of Real Madrid CF and Alex Scott from AFC Bournemouth. Both players are highly regarded by United’s recruitment team as they look to add quality, energy, and creativity to the heart of the squad.
A move for Tchouaméni remains difficult due to Real Madrid’s ongoing midfield reshuffle. While Madrid recently ruled out a move for Enzo Fernandez, the Spanish giants are still evaluating their midfield options, with reports suggesting Eduardo Camavinga could be the more likely departure if changes are made. As things stand, Real have shown no intention of selling Tchouaméni.
If the French international proves unattainable,
Bournemouth’s Alex Scott has emerged as one of United’s strongest alternatives. The 21-year-old English midfielder has attracted interest from both Manchester United and Arsenal F.C., but Bournemouth remain determined to keep one of their brightest talents and are reportedly working on a new long-term contract.

United are also closely monitoring highly rated Ayyoub Bouaddi of Lille OSC. The 18-year-old has impressed with his performances on the international stage and is viewed as one of Europe’s most exciting young midfield prospects. Other names under consideration include Felix Nmecha from Borussia Dortmund and Sander Berge of Fulham F.C.
United are also expected to complete the signing of Éderson from Atalanta BC once the Brazilian midfielder finishes his FIFA World Cup campaign, making him a key part of the club’s midfield rebuild.
Beyond midfield, the Red Devils continue to target reinforcements on the left wing. Crysencio Summerville of West Ham United F.C. remains the club’s preferred option, with initial talks already held between the two clubs. However, Tottenham are also interested in the Dutch winger, increasing the pressure on United to move quickly.
The pursuit of Summerville is closely linked to the future of Marcus Rashford.
Manchester United hope to finance a new winger through Rashford’s potential sale, although the England international could still remain at Old Trafford as a squad player under manager Michael Carrick.

Meanwhile, United’s interest in Lewis Hall of Newcastle United F.C. has been temporarily placed on hold, with the club determined to complete their midfield overhaul before strengthening other areas of the squad.
- With several high-profile targets under consideration and major decisions expected in the coming weeks,
- Manchester United’s summer transfer window is shaping up to be one of the busiest and most important in recent years as they look to build a squad capable of competing for major honours.
