A brief moment of confusion occurred at the end of the contest when the match was declared over after Afghanistan lost their ninth wicket in the second innings. However, officials later confirmed that Sharafuddin Ashraf was unable to bat due to a leg injury, leaving Afghanistan with no available batter to continue. As a result, Afghanistan’s innings ended at 112 all out, handing India a massive victory.
After posting a commanding 564/8 declared, India completely dominated the visitors with both bat and ball. Debutant Manav Suthar starred in the first innings, producing an outstanding spell of 6/33 to dismantle Afghanistan’s batting lineup.
Afghanistan’s only notable resistance came from Rahmat Shah, who scored a fighting 60 runs and registered his sixth Test half-century. However, he found little support from the other end as Indian bowlers maintained relentless pressure.
In the second innings, spin duo Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav shared seven wickets between them, ensuring Afghanistan never threatened to extend the contest.
Earlier in the day, fast bowler Prasidh Krishna struck an early blow by dismissing Azmatullah Omarzai for a duck. Suthar then took control, removing Sharafuddin Ashraf and later dismissing Rahmat Shah to complete his five-wicket haul before finishing with six wickets overall.
The comprehensive victory highlighted India’s dominance in all departments and marked a dream debut for Manav Suthar, whose match-winning performance will be remembered as one of the standout moments of the Test.
